The Guardian's grip on the British media

J B Hunt relates an anecdote illustrating the Press Association's deliberate suppression of news about his & Keith-Hill's investigation; and quotes the PA's boasts of the mighty influence that the news agency has over modern British society.

Doc.1:
A real-life "Ministry of Truth"

A brief account of the Press Association's historical links to The Guardian, plus an outline of the PA's embroilment with The Guardian during the period it fed the British media its biased, Guardian-based reports of the 'cash for questions' affair.

Doc. 2:
History & conflicts of interest

A perceptive and unsettling article by the Press Gazette's Jean Morgan CBE, concerning the PA's production of complete newspaper pages for local papers across Britain, written and typeset by PA staff in each paper's own house style without any acknowledgement that they have been created remotely.

Doc. 3:
An unseen influence
(Press Gazette article)

J B Hunt analyses a Guardian-based PA news bulletin of 21/12/00 entitled: How the Hamilton Affair Unfolded, which PA News issued following Neil Hamilton's failed appeal against his libel defeat against Mohamed 'Al' Fayed the year before.  Though purported to be an impartial account of the 'cash for questions' affair, it is revealed to be made up largely of spin and gross factual inaccuracies; whilst omitting facts and events of the utmost importance.

Political bias laid bare:
- Part One

Summary and Conclusion of Hunt's analysis of the PA News bulletin How the Hamilton Affair Unfolded (discussed above).
